The causes of obesity are old age (not exercising much), being fed too much food, or being fed an unsuitable diet. The dog is overweight; signified by rolls of fat under the skin. Obesity can predispose to joint problems and other illnesses associated with obesity such as heart and major organ failure.

The symptoms of obesity are excess covering of flesh hiding the dog’s ribs, breathlessness, reluctance to exercise, waddling, and sluggishness.
