I had two 2 month old rott/chow mix puppies. The female all of a sudden started throwing up white foam and became listless. Even after vet intervention, we lost her. So the male puppy was taken in for first vaccine before he showed any signs. We brought him in and kept him in the bathroom. The next night, he felt really warm, started vomiting foam, was listless and his back area looked really sunk in. We force fed him baby pedialyte like every 3-4 hours. I spent hours on the floor petting him and telling him he was a good dog. He started to appear better the next day but then acted sick again. I put out some wer dog food but he wanted to eat the wet cat food. Ok whatever works. Today is the 5th day since we lost sammie... and bo is now eating and drinking on his own. I read that hydration is most important... and lots of love. Parvo is very heartbreaking but i hope my post can help save a pup. *wer food ... i meant wet food...cant edit from mobile XO

my mother baught my son a beagle puppy for christmas he was 3 months old , we took him home everything was fine for about a month then all of a sudden he fell to the floor i picked him up and he went from being this happy puppy to this puppy that couldnt even hold his head up. we braught him to the vet, he was in criticle condition and after doing surgery on our little man we were forced to put him down or let him die in pain after the vet did a biopsy on him they said he has severe pnamonia, 3 days later our 11 yr old teacup pomeranian had the same symptoms, we rushed her to the vet and they said it was parvo , sent me home with some meds for her she passed away not long after we got home....this was very horrible for our family it will be a long time till we get another dog

About four years ago I bought a puppy Toy Chihuahua from a breeder (not AKC). I was advised to wait until the puppy was at least 6 months to vaccinate because he was so small. At around 5 months my puppy became very sick, vomitting, diahrrea etc. I did not realize my puppy was sick for a whole day since I worked about 2 hours away from home. The night I discovered my puppy was very ill I took him to the emergency vet. I was charged 300 dollars to leave my Mr.Biggles there and was told to call in the morning to check on him as they were not sure he would be able to make it. He made it through the first night and from there I was told now I had to take him to the actual vet for treatment. The cheapest quote I was able to find was $249 per day. I was unable to afford this costly treatment and was forced to take my dog home with me no medication or anything. I tried the Pedialite and my dog would just throw it up. A friend of my brother's, qho wanted to be a vet, told us he helped a dog survive parvo once before with vitamins and antibiotic. He came and gave my dog an injection of horse vitamins(very small dose) combined with antibiotics. I then waited and continued to give my dog the Pedialite for two more days and finally saw an improvement in my dog's health. He got up on his own at night time to look for water, shaky and stumbling around but miraculously enough did make it, all thanx to the injection our friend gave him.

Another sign of Parvo is the smell of the stools. A dog that has this will have a distinct odor to the stools. It is really stong and kind of reminds you of road kill. To the the new tecnoligy vets have, a dog that is treated at first signs by a vet, has a good chance of pulling though this illness.

Small time breeder & had 4 dogs on my block live after Parvo.

I had several dogs who caught parvo in their puppy years.... dont give up the fight is only over if you want it to be...I have never lost a dog to Parvo however the Vet always told me I would... I just locked them up in their own confined space that I could steralize after they were better... Throught the whole time they pups were sick I would Syringe {MOST IMP}-> Pediasure, eggs, water, and milk down their thraot and if they threw it up then I would repeat.... Slowly try to introduce different foods you think they might eat... Keep their space very clean it stinks horribly.... ALWAYS Wash your hands and snything else that might have came into contact with the infection... in a couple- few weeks you will notice your baby doing better and better then bam she back to healthy...
trust me my first parvo pup I took to the vet and it died... The next 4 I took care of at home and they ALL are still alive today...

We have a mixed small dog named sadiebug
she got really sick fast bloody stools and everything weak wouldnt eat or drink after a lot
of reasearch on the web I found a site that had a home remedy for parvo you take pedalite
for kids and mix a couple teaspoons of household bleach in it and give some every hr
please look up the amt to give. We couldn't take her to the vet till monday this was
like friday night I stayed up all night giving her pedalite and the bleach medicine
we got her to the vet monday morning and they had to put her in the dog hospital for
3 days running iv;s because of dehydration. I told the vet about the bleach medicine
and he said that had saved her life she now is about a yr old and doing good we now
have gotten all her shots which is the best to do early in a puppies life as they
loose the mothers natural antibody protection, in a couple months and most dogs are
carriers of many diseases even though they show no signs and symptoms of the diseases.
Shots are the main way to keep a dog or puppy healthy and you must do it as soon as possible --david

My lil Man a.k.a. B.B, my baby died yesterday. He was always so hyper and loving. He was about 6 months and we had him for almost 3 months. He came from a bad home. He had worms real bad and we dewormed him so finally they went away. Then we noticed he started losing his hair in spots. So we thought it was mange. I got medicine for it. Then this past wednesday night he started pughing really bad and all night his stomach was growling. He would look at me in a way saying help me, but I didnt know what to do. I wanted to take him to the vet, but my boyfriend didn't have the money. So the next day he was acting better in the morning but that night it just all went down hill. Why are there so many deadly diseases?

My daughter brought a puppy home that was sick. (Her boyfriends dog had 10 pups) We both thought it was parvo. The vet said it was dehydrated and advised us to give it gatoraide and not to put it to sleep. The puppy got worse, we took it back and he said it had hookworms really bad. Again, no advise to put it to sleep, nor did he mention Parvo. We had asked both times if it was Parvo. Ahhh!! That dog died a painfull death after all of his injections of de-wormer! Another puppy from the same litter got sick and a different vet said it was Mastisis! Now all the other puppies and the mother have parvo even though the mother had her shots. I am changing vets! Again! Be leary of a diagnosis of "worms" when the dog is so lethargic it is a limp dishrag, it has a temp of 94 or lower, will not eat and crys out in pain. Make them do a blood test for Parvo! No dog deserves that painful death!!

My daughter's beautiful 6 mo. Siberian Husky died yesterday. The pup began a lot of vomiting,, was taken to a Vet,and sent home (After x-rays) with worm medicine. The next day, my daughter went to work (Doctor at an army base)and when she came home, the pup's eyes were all glazed and was dying. She rushed the pup to the vet's,where it died on the examining table. Blood tests "after the fact" revealed absence of white blood cells, Parvo. I wonder if the administering of the worm medicine hastened the sudden worsening of the pup's condition.

I have a pit bull puppy that came down w/ Parvo. We took her to the vet & she informed me that my puppy may not make it. I got in touch w/ a friend of mine that grew up in a house that helped poor people take care of their sick animals. She told me of a at home care for Parvo. So on top of giving her the vet meds I gave her the home meds. It consisted of Colostrums (you can get this from GMC for like 12 bucks. It is an immune booster.) Natural honey & sea salt. You mix it in a tablespoon & cram it down their throat. You give it to them as much as you want. It is also a good idea if you have other dogs to give them a shoot of this too. She lived. It was a really hard thing to deal w/ but she pulled through. I would tell everyone a/b the home treatment. It really helps but it is no sub for a real vet.
