Lyme Disease - dog health experiences

Lyme Disease dog experience
Dog Owner:
Location: Bridgeville Delaware usa

I have a 5 year old Lab and he got Lime Disease last year. I didn't know what was wrong with hem, because he was a very active and crazy boy. First he limp on this front leg then his back legs went out. He would not eat. All he would do is grone. This dog is like my best friend, all I could do was hold him and cry. Then I got on the computer and strated looking and that's when I found that his problem may be Lime Disease. In the mean time I had set him up to see the Vet. Once the Vet seen him he did blood work and strated treating him. It's been about a year now, and all of a sudden he has stopped eating. He will only eat out of my hand. He has lost a lot of weight. Is it possible that this is coming from he Lime Disease? If he doesn't get back to his old self soon I will have to get him back to the Vet. Is there anyone with any answers?

My Rat Terrier was found by my husband in the woods when he was deer hunting last December. She was lost and covered with ticks. He took her in and cleaned her up and tried to find her owners by talking to the Game Wardens. He finally located the owner's mother who did not want the puppy and gave her to my husband. He brought her home and she has become our heart! We named her Lil Bit. About 4 months after we got her she became sick with Lyme's Disease. She has been treated with Doxycycline 2 per day. She has now become sick again with Lyme's and our vet put her on 5 drops of Iodine mixed with a little water per day. She is not responding at this time. We plan on taking her to LSU Vet School tomorrow morning to see what they can do for her. She is so sick right now and has fever and pain in joints. Has anyone had any experience with Lyme's Disease in their dog? If so, please write and tell me what type meds you used. I feel maybe she has become immune to Doxycycline and needs another type antibiotic but this is Labor Day Holiday and no vets are in their offices today. I would appreciate any info you might have to offer to help my Lil Bit get better. She is two years old, as estimated by our vet.
