Urinary Incontinence - dog health experiences

Our 3 year old Weimaraner has "wet the bed" about 6 times in the past 4 months. At first I didnt know what to think....maybe just an accident, or dreaming that she was going potty outside. It was rare for her to have an accident as she is a very well trained dog and is able to hold it for more than 12 hours when we are working and she has been potty trained since she was a small pup. But I noticed that she was very lathagic and appeared as if she had no idea she wet the bed. We let her cuddle up in bed with us and I dont want to have to make her sleep on the floor. I am going to have to make a vet appointment as I am afraid that it is either seizures of simply Urinary Incontinence and that medication will help resolve this issue for her.

I have 2 dogs; both of them sleep on the bed with me. The female, a Border collie mix, is now on Proin because of nighttime accidents. It works! No more accidents, which is a good thing because she sleeps pressed right up against me. The male, a flat-coat retriever, just started having some urinary incontinence at night, and last night was by far the worst yet. I currently have the mattress propped up and 3 fans blowing to get it dried out. I'm waiting until my vet's office opens to make an appointment, hoping that this will turn out to be something simple and easily remedied. He's a sweetie and I sure don't want to hear anything about a serious illness or the need for expensive tests or surgery. I'm only just now getting back on my feet financially, and a big unexpected bill would be tough to handle.

11 year old huskey --seems to be leaking when she drinks the pool water only, the vet tested it and said it was a very diluted sample (well, that is what came out, i didn't add water!) and suggested blood work. We are also out of work 1 and a half years so she will just live in the front yard now instead of access to the pool to see if this helps. can't afford $30 a month for incontinence drugs. she'll have to sleep on the wood floor on a rug and clean it up daily. ugh

our 3 month old labby pup was diagnosed with a leaky bladder. When we got a second opinion, i was told that it may be a kidney deformity and we had 3 options...... one is to have expensive operations which aren't always sucessful, second was to get her put down or third, was to let her live a natural and happy life and then die of kidney failure. PLEASE HAVE YOUR DOGS BLADDER SYSTEM CHECKED

Our older, 13 years, mixed rot & grm short hair pointer, who looks like a black lab and has a sweet disposition occasionally puddles when laying on floor sleeping and a few times has wet the bed during the night. We had vet examine her, he prescribed anti-biotics and after a few days it cleared right up. However about every 6 to 9 months now we have another singular episode. I feel that her age is playing a part now and use the hospital pee pads for where she sleeps on the bed, along with a shower curtain under her sleep area. This seems to be working pretty well.

My dog sometimes pees in her sleep. She is now on Proin. It is wonderful. She rarely has any more accidents unless she drinks too much swimming pool water.

I have a 7yr old female boxer named Emmy. Over the past 2 months she has started to have what I called "accidents". I was quite surprised when it happend the 1st couple of times because she has never done that. I too wanted to scold her because it was happening on my bed and I would have to strip the bed, etc. It is now becoming more frequent; probably once a week and I am now concerned. I went and purchased a cranberry formula that you sprinkle on their food 2x's a day for one week and then use it less often as a maintenance program. I now feel, after reading other experiences, that she needs to be seen professionally and hope it is just a matter of putting her on medication. She has been a very healthy, happy dog and a BIG part of our family. I'm thankful for these types of websites because it helps you realize you are not the only one out there dealing with the issue and can often get good advice.

My female Weimaraner was leaving "wet spots" wherever she laid down. Not a good thing when she is allowed on the couch! I took her to her vet and several medications were tried with no result. We finally tried Proin which helped but then she lost her appetite. We reduced the doseage and voila! we now have a wet free dog and we're all very happy!

Our 9 year old shepard/husky mix has been having trouble urinating while sleeping. We\\\'ve never had any problems with her going in the house before and we feel bad and don\\\'t want to scold her when it\\\'s obviously not her fault. We take her out prior to going to bed each night and it doesn\\\'t happen every night but it is getting more consistent. Unfortunately surgery is out of the question as my husband lost his job in January and I lost my job of 12 years in early April so money is very tight for us right now. Our dog means the world to us, we have a 13 year old daughter that has grown up with our dog (Tasha) as we got Tasha when she was just 7 weeks old. Any advice anyone could share would be much appreciated. Tasha is very spoiled and is just like another child to us.

My dog of 14 years has a fatty tumor located near her lower abdomen, just recently she started to urinate on and off in her sleep. She has joint issues, her spine is fusing and has arthritis. The vet told me two years ago she wouldn't last much longer, She has good days and not so good days, but I try to accommodate her as much as possible. I know dogs internalize pain and I'm hoping I will know when she is near her time to cross over so she doesn't suffer. I use those hospital bed witting sheets to absorb her urine and I have diapers on her when she goes through a period of bed wetting. Has anyone else experienced this with an elderly dog?

My dog, who is fourteen years old, has Urinary Incontinence. With her old age some of the treatments our too risky for her, so we deciede to search for a alternative treatment. What we found is that giving her a bowl of *green tea to drink helps prevent these accidents and cleans out the bladder, causing the urine to smell not so strongly. WE also found that a bowl of green tea haelps with stomach achs and stop her form wanting to eat grass.

* to make green tea take a bowl ( small, medium or large depend on size of dog) and fill it half way. Then microwave it for 30 secs to 1 minute depend on amout of water. Water should be warm. Then place one green tea bag in the water and let it set till water is a medium brown/green color ( about 30 seconds to 1 minute) Let it cool till it is luke warm then give it to your dog.
